Any educator who is working in emerging technologies needs to review the recently released Horizon Report from The New Media Consortium and Educause Learning Initiative:
This is an excellent report that is full of great information and many links to valuable resources. Two of the components in the report are relevant to the PacRimX Project; Social Networking and Immersion in a foreign language environment, and Virtual Worlds. We also fall under several of the other upcoming technologies.
The really nice part of this report is that each of the technologies is highlighted with a “Time-to-Adoption Horizon”. Virtual Worlds is a two to three year horizon. Each of these sections includes many URL’s to resources related to these technologies.
