Computerworld magazine has an article up at their site about the future of Virtual Worlds:

Virtual worlds will soon be as important as Web to companies

The article states that virtual worlds will be as important to companies in five years as the Internet is to them today:

“The “Getting Work Done in Virtual Worlds” report released by the IT research firm this week concludes that executives should begin investigating and experimenting with virtual worlds soon because of their promise for remote collaboration, training and the ability to build and share 3-D models.”

This is an interesting report that misses on a few of the points (most likely from a lack of firsthand knowledge of these environments). Nonetheless, this report could be handy when trying to promote a project in your organization. It is worth a read, if for no other reason to get some talking points.
