The Wall Street Journal has an article today on a new trend of teens taking up virtual summer jobs online (I was told that it was on the front page of the physical paper):
This is a good article on teens working online and making more than their burger flipping friends. According to the article, fewer teens are landing summer jobs. This trend is especially true in the current tough economy.
“It’s an incredible environment for young entrepreneurs,” says Claudia L’Amoreaux, of Linden Lab. “The ones who are really successful at it are beginning to make that their main work.”
They also profile seven young virtual world entrepreneurs in a separate slideshow:
Seven young and successful virtual-world entrepreneurs
This is well worth the read and highlights the efforts of a few cutting edge teens pushing the envelope of virtual worlds and making some money while they are at it. Great stuff!
