Monterey Bay Aquarium Field Trip

The Modesto City Schools students went on a field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This trip served two purposes; to get video and photos of the aquarium for use in the PacRimX Aquarium project and to get video for their summer video yearbook project.

Students took pictures of architectural elements of the aquarium for ideas for our virtual aquarium. They also captured images of various building materials at the aquarium to use as textures for our virtual aquarium. Video segments will be integrated into displays on the island in the Fall when our streaming server is brought online.

There was a lot to see at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Many of the students had never been there before.

It was pretty easy to pick the multimedia students out of the crowded aquarium.

The students had an opportunity to interview two staff members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. One was a guide at the aquarium while the other was involved with their web services division. They had a chance to interview the students on what they looked for in a compelling social website as input into one of their projects at the aquarium.

After the visit to the aquarium, the students walked down to the pier and had some time to enjoy the beautiful clear day in Monterey on the beach.
